What this site collects, why, how long it is kept, and the rights you have under the GDPR. It is short because the site does very little.

i.Who is responsible

This is a personal site.

kirangange.com is run by Kiran Gange as an individual. I am the controller of any personal data described here — enquiries come to me directly, not to a company. For anything relating to your data, email kirangange@gmail.com.

ii.What is collected

Only what you type into the form.

There is one form on this site — the speaking enquiry in the Talks section. It collects what you choose to enter:

Nothing else is collected. There is no account, no newsletter, no login. Please don't put sensitive personal information in the free-text field — it isn't needed to answer a speaking enquiry.

iii.Why, and on what basis

To reply to you, and nothing else.

Your information is used solely to respond to your enquiry and to discuss the engagement you asked about. The lawful basis is your consent when you submit the form, together with the legitimate interest in answering a genuine professional enquiry and taking steps at your request before any engagement.

It is never used for advertising, never added to a mailing list, and never sold.

iv.Who else handles it

One processor.

The site is hosted on Netlify, which also handles form submissions and delivers them to me by email. Netlify acts as a processor on my behalf. Netlify is US-based, so your data may be processed outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards the GDPR requires.

No one else receives it.

v.How long it is kept

As long as the conversation is live.

Enquiries are kept while we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards as a record of the correspondence, then deleted. You can ask me to erase yours sooner at any time and I will.

vi.Cookies and tracking

There are none.

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. There is no tracking script, no advertising pixel, and no cookie banner — because there is nothing to consent to.

The homepage shows live figures for inflation, forest loss and farm weather. These are fetched from public data sources when the page loads; the request tells those services your IP address, as any web request does, but no identifier is set and nothing is stored.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to fetch them. Some pages link out to Spotify, LinkedIn, Amazon and Routledge — those open in a new tab and are governed by those providers' own policies. Nothing from them is embedded here.

If analytics is ever added, this page will say so before it goes live.

vii.Your rights

Ask, and it's done.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to how it is used, and receive a copy in portable form. To exercise any of these, email kirangange@gmail.com and I will respond within the time the law allows.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens; if you live elsewhere in the EU, your national authority.

viii.Changes

This page is the current version.

If how the site handles data changes, this notice changes with it and the date at the top is updated. There is no archive of previous versions — what is on this page is what applies.

Any question about your data
